Grown up zSpheres

The result out of a bunch of zSpheres and the help of Stephan Viranyi during a lecture in 3D Sculpting I didn't expect it to turn out as a bulky insect-like hulk.

What I personally learned from this - what first started as a zBrush Sketching - is, that I should really do some scribbles on paper in the beginning. Just to get a better idea of the silhouette, only because I am not that affin to 3D sculpting yet.
It's not that I don't like the creature at all, but it's silhouette could really be a little bit more intense.

And heres a sneak peak of what the final texturing could look like. It already contains the cavity and ambient occlusion maps within the diffuse. The normalmap still needs a specular. After I'm done with that, I'm going to render and post it.

Adding the 3rd Dimension

As you see, this was the modeling sheet for what should have been my semester test. I didn't handed it, because it wasn't nearly as finished as you can see below.
And during the crunch time of my last semester project there wasn't really enough spare time to work on my 3d modeling test. Easy equation: Project = 80 Pts : 3D Modeling = 20 Pts

But I'm still working on it as you can see.

The actual 3D model in 3ds Max.

And the sculpting in zBrush, inlcuding redesign of the base meshes.

I'm going to post an update as soon as the textures are done.

A grim future ahead

This was my personal vision of how the game should look like, but in the end things never happen like you want them to.

And also the model made from the sheet below wasn't realized like originally intended.

Personal Note to myself: check future jpg for cmyk mode -_-

It's a Kraken!

As with the Airscout, I used a marine animal as the source for the design. It was not easy and I'm still not satisfied with the turret.

It had been the first time that I used vector shapes in order to create the modeling sheet. It may be very slow at the beginning, but one of its benefits is the easy way of copying shapes. Useful for mechanical designs and laziness ^^

What becomes of a Murloc

What happens if you cross a Spacemarine with a Murloc?

I tried to create a futuristic version of Deep One warrior.

Airscout for 'Rise of the Titans'

This is the concept for the airscout. A hostile NPC which didn't make it into 'Rise of the Titans'. Actually because we did not have had enough time to animate it.

It may catch your eyes, that I first tried to use a squid as a basis, but I was unsatisfied with the results. A squid may be fast moving, but not very agile. Therefore I used the form of a nautilus.

The one at the bottom right ...

From a scribble into the modeling sheet:

Later on I also made the facial modeling sheet for Lenka.

And yes, she's got some tough thigh ... way too tough ;)
For God's sake I luckily had anatomy lessons later on!

Conceptual Work on Human Factor

These are some early silhouettes I made for my second students project, 'Human Factor', at the Games Academy. It has been the final project of the game design course.

And some more advanced scribbles for one of the female characters. The one at the bottom right made it into to the game.
